Course Description

In year 10, Art is offered as a full year option. Students are taught a series of projects that builds on using the learning from year 9. Students develop their knowledge using drawing, painting, making sculptures, woodcut printmaking, collage, photograms and pinhole cameras. We aim to offer our students a wide range of experiences to allow them to make more informed choices in their art-making in the senior school.
A L1 Assignment is offered in Year 10 Art that, upon achieving, students will gain 4 NCEA Level 1 credits

A love of making-Art.
Pathway
Success in Year 10 Art will provide students with the basic knowledge and skills that will be useful for studying Level 1 PAinting and DigiArt. This course is also important if students want to study Arts and Design based degrees when they leave school or want to make their career in a creative industry.
