DRAMA – YEAR 11
NCEA LEVEL 1
Level 1 Drama provides the opportunity for an introduction to a range of basic knowledge and skills in applied Drama. Students will learn, interpretation of a range of contexts into performance, the ability to devise Drama, working with poems in dramatic performance, mime and physical drama, the basics of staging and performance, and understanding public performance. Students will be required to complete written tasks alongside their practical projects.
• Entry to external standards are expected, vetted at TIC discretion.
• If students attend outside performances and workshops throughout the year the cost of these is additional to the course fee.
• Students should be aware that Year 11 policy is that they will work in a permanent group throughout the entire year. Therefore the ability to function well in a team with the same people over a protracted period is essential.
• Students should be aware that the department keeps video, photographic and written records of assessment activities for the use of quality assurance, moderation processes, and exemplar material.
Completion of Year 10 Drama is recommended.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
