HISTORY – YEAR 11
NCEA LEVEL 1
Through a study of some of the major trends and developments in our country and elsewhere, Level 1 History aims at helping students develop an understanding of historical developments and historical inquiry. The content of this course is concerned with some important social, economic and political issues of the twentieth century, such as the Origins of WWII, The 1981 Springbok Tour and the American Black Civils Rights movement of the 1950s-1970s.
Achieve at a minimum of Level 5 of the curriculum in all aspects of the end-of-year Year 10 Social Studies exam. All others will be considered at the discretion of the HoF Social Sciences and/or TIC History.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Total Credits Available: 20 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 8 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 12 credits.
Course availability is dependent on numbers and staffing, and course entry will be confirmed at the beginning of 2021. Students will be required to select additional back-up courses as part of this process.
