Entry RequirementsLevel 1 Building will suit students who enjoy working with their hands in a practical environment and those who have demonstrated a good understanding of the tools, skills, and processes at year 10. Eligibility for Level 1 is determined by successful completion of year 10 or with a special exemption from the Head of Department of Hard Materials.

Level 1 Building and Construction qualifies individuals with basic knowledge and skills for work, further learning and/or community involvement.
Graduates are able to.
Demonstrate a minimum of 80% attendance throughout the duration of their learning.
- Demonstrate basic general and/or foundation knowledge.
- Apply basic skills required to carry out simple tasks.
- Apply basic solutions to simple problems
- Apply literacy and numeracy skills for participation in everyday life.
- Work in a highly structured context with direct supervision.
- Demonstrate some responsibility for own learning.
- Interact with others.
This is a hands-on course. It is an innovative, practical and multi-disciplinary programme for students, providing them with the skills and knowledge to springboard into any career in the construction industry. The programme is primarily workshop-based. Rather than focusing on any one trade, the programme builds skills and an understanding of all trades in the construction industry. It also develops literacy, numeracy and communication skills and has close links with the Technology curriculum, tertiary institutes, trade based opportunities and vocational pathway training.
