Course Description

Entry Requirements

Students must have passed their Level 1 Folio Board external or have gained at least 14 credits in Level 1 Visual Arts or 11 Digiart in order to gain entry. Students with no art background who wish to take up Year 12 Design need to see Ms. McClintock regarding entry into this course prior to commencement.

Level 2 Design will suit students who have an interest in design, illustration, digital art and are interested in looking at and creating things such as; branding, websites  and magazines. 

To be successful at this subject it would be useful if students have completed Level 1 Art. Students will need to be able to think creatively and imaginatively to develop ideas. Students would also need to finish off artworks outside of lesson time.

This course aims to build and refine skills in Design and Adobe software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Students will also learn how to develop their own ideas through looking at the current Design world, research eras of Design and research of their artist models. 

The main focus of the course is to strengthen skills in:

  • Graphic Design 

  • Adobe Software

  • Idea development

  • Visual composition and layout design

Visual Arts Design Level 3

Success in Level 2 Design will provide students with the basic knowledge and skills that will be useful for studying Level 3 Design. This course is also important if students want to study Art and Design based degrees or want to make their career in a creative industry.
