This course aims to build and refine skills in drawing and painting techniques, colour mixing and tonal modeling. Students will also learn how to develop their own ideas through analysis, and learning about artists’ themes, concepts and techniques.
The main focus of the course is to strengthen skills and knowledge in:
Drawing and Painting
Idea development
Investigation of a theme or a concept

Some students will also be offered the opportunity to do a research assignment and/ or a mural.

Entry Requirements
Students must have passed their Level 1 Folio Board external or have gained at least 14 credits in Level 1 Painting and/or Digital Arts in order to gain entry. Students with no art background who who have skill in drawing and/or painting and wish to take up Year 12 Painting need to see Ms. Robson regarding entry into this course prior to commencement.
Level 2 Painting will suit students who enjoy and have some talent in drawing and painting. Students will need to be able to think creatively and imaginatively to develop ideas. Students would also need to finish off artworks outside of lesson time.
Pathway
Success in Level 2 Painting will provide students with the basic knowledge and skills that will be useful for studying Level 3 Painting. This course is also important if students want to study Art and Design based degrees or want to make their career in a creative industry.
