Mathematics will be necessary for virtually any career, particularly one in the trades. When you are applying for an apprenticeships in the trades Mathematics along with English will be key subjects that an employer will look at. The Maths VP course is designed so students use the context of the Trades when solving mathematical problems. Students who are enrolled in the vocational pathways automotive or building and construction courses at UNITEC must take the MATHS VP course unless they are enrolled in a higher level Mathematics course.
Entry Requirements
The Mathematics course followed in Year 12 will be dependent on the number of Mathematics credits gained in Year 11. Exceptions to this will only be made in rare circumstances after consultation with the students Year 11 teacher and the Head of Mathematics.
