Talofa Lava! Mālō le Soifua! Welcome to Tōfā Manusina Bilingual Social Studies!  
This year, you will look at the importance of life as a Sāmoan (Tama Sāmoa), breaking down family genealogies, unpacking cultural aspects of Sāmoa through learning about the way of life in Sāmoa and comparing to way of life in New Zealand. There is also a heavy emphasis on Sāmoa's history and gaining knowledge of our past historical events as well as the use of our surroundings in everyday Sāmoan life. 

To succeed in this course:

●      Revise new vocabulary through Quizlet, Kahoot or in your books. Repetition is key to retaining information. 

●      Learn your spoken Gagana, reading and writing Gagana and Listening to Gagana. 

●      Ask questions when you do not understand. Raise your hand and do not be afraid to make mistakes!

●      If you miss a class, make sure you catch-up with work on Microsoft Teams 

Other extra learning experiences and activities will be done in things such as Samoa Fale Lalaga - West and South Auckland (local community weavers), as well as opportunities to learn outside of the classroom on trips and so on.

Entry Requirements

This course option is only available to students enrolled in our Tōfā Manusina Bilingual. Students may also gain entry into this course at the discretion of the Languages Department Assistant Curriculum Leader (ACL)
