Entry RequirementsThe Level 1 NCEA Science course is open to all students, regardless of their background or abilities. While having some previous science knowledge can be helpful, it's not necessary. The course focuses on building strong skills in scientific thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry, which will prepare students for higher levels of science.
This course is great for:

Level 1 NCEA GENERAL Science gives students a strong start in science while embracing KBHS values like Whānau (family), Tohea (resilience), Kairangi (excellence), and Mana (respect). The course teaches how to think critically, analyze data, and do experiments, all while respecting indigenous ideas about the connection between people and nature.
Course Contents:
- Exploring physical phenomena to do with forces and motion, using experimentation.
- Relationships between micro-organisms and the environment
- Observations and explanations of the Earth-Moon-Sun systems

Please note: If you wish to take more than one Science at Year 11, you are encouraged not to take this course, as there will be an overlap between this course and the other two Year 11 Sciences. If you only wish to take one Science, this is a great choice!
